Drama
The hardest turns happen between people. These stories stay close to loyalty and the cost of a choice.

The Stand-In
The call comes at breakfast, which is how you know it is serious. Nightwing and Starfire are going off-world with the League — a week, maybe more — and the Titans are not a team you can leave untended. Bruce waited for five closed cases with your name on them. Now he has them. "Jump City by tonight," he says. "The Tower. You stand where Dick stands." He does not call it temporary. He gives you the door code, and tells you the team's last mission is still open on the table.

Homecoming
The manor at 2 a.m., the Cave down to the medical bay's glow. Bruce is upright, which he should not be, reading a file, which he should not be — and the file is Selene Kyle's. She was there Thursday. She was the reason he walked into it. Alfred sets a plate in front of you and does not leave. "Gordon lights the signal tonight," Bruce says. "Whoever answers it decides what this city thinks the Bat is. I cannot go." He does not say who should. Behind you, your old window is open, and there is a girl on the sill.

Called Back
The call comes on the private line, and it is not Bruce. It is Alfred, and his voice is even, which is worse. Something happened in Gotham on Thursday. Batman is home, and hurt, and would never have allowed this call. The Tower is quiet; the team just closed a case with your name on the report — the eighth. Cyborg has the jet warming. Raven, without looking up, says you should go. "The east gate will be open, Master Jonathan," Alfred says. "The signal has not been lit in four nights, and the city has noticed."
